In-the-Past-(Who's-There-!)-v1

Welcome to franknemick.com

Frank Nemick operates Man Dreaming out of his home in Beulah, Colorado.  The studio space—a converted greenhouse with spacious, south-facing windows—looks out toward Scraggy Peak and the Wet Mountains.  Together, the abundant natural light and the view of the valley outside serve to make the studio feel larger than it is.

Outside the windows of
Man Dreaming, the homes of neighbors are folded into the dense surrounding pines; the few vehicles on the road that ribbons alongside the creek can be heard from miles away; and Mule Deer and wild Turkey often cross the lawn.  After a wet spring, all that might be heard is North Creek.  After a snow, only silence.

It is in this space that Nemick creates his sculptural and functional ceramic pieces, which he then fires in a gas-fired kiln of his own design.  Frank’s sculptural works explore the sense of despair and hope that is fundamental to humanity.  His functional pottery is strong enough to withstand everyday use and designed to please the hand and eye alike.
